La Real Fábrica de Tabacos es un edificio de piedra del siglo XVIII situado en Sevilla, al sur de España. Desde la década de 1950 es la sede del rectorado de la Universidad de Sevilla. Anteriormente fue, como su nombre indica, una fábrica de tabacos: la institución de este tipo más destacada de Europa, y descendiente en línea recta de la primera fábrica de tabacos de Europa, que se encontraba en sus proximidades. [Al principio se dispersaron por la ciudad, pero finalmente se concentraron en un solo lugar -frente a la Iglesia de San Pedro- por razones sanitarias y para facilitar el control estatal de la actividad[7] En el siglo XVIII, el gobierno real decidió construir el actual gran edificio inmediatamente fuera de las murallas de la ciudad[1].

ResumenEl Índice Ampliado de Susceptibilidad al Tabaquismo (ESSI) se basa en la combinación de la susceptibilidad al tabaquismo y la curiosidad por fumar. El ESSI puede identificar a los jóvenes que corren el riesgo de empezar a fumar cigarrillos y productos relacionados. El objetivo de este estudio era analizar los resultados del ESSI y examinar los factores asociados a las puntuaciones del ESSI en estudiantes de entre 12 y 16 años. Se analizaron variables sociodemográficas, sociales/ambientales y personales, y se determinó el valor del ESSI en estudiantes no fumadores reclutados en tres colegios del oeste de España. Se utilizaron modelos de regresión para examinar los factores asociados al tabaquismo para toda la muestra y los factores asociados a las puntuaciones del ESSI en la población no fumadora. De los 377 participantes analizados, el 20,4% eran fumadores. Entre los no fumadores, el 53,5% y el 55,3% presentaron puntuaciones de ESSI medio-alto para los cigarrillos y los cigarrillos electrónicos, respectivamente, y el 39,8% presentó puntuaciones de ESSI medio-alto para el uso de narguile. Una puntuación de ESSI más alta se asoció con una mayor exposición a personas que fuman en el hogar, con tener más amigos que fuman, con el consumo de alcohol y con una puntuación más alta en la escala de impulsividad. Estos resultados refuerzan la importancia de reducir la presión de los compañeros y sugieren el importante papel de la resolución en condiciones de afecto positivo en la reducción de la impulsividad. Los enfoques basados en la autoeficacia podrían abordarse en programas preventivos desarrollados en entornos educativos.
